Buying Affordable Autos From The USA

There is no doubt that the USA produces and sells cars cheaper then here in the UK, so often it can be more cost effective to import a car from the States and pay the relevant charges, than buying her in the UK for some rare models. But there is one step further you could go and that is to buy USA salvage cars. These cars have been involved in an accident and are being sold via auctions.  It is astonishing the range and value of the some vehicles if you choose well.

We all know there are companies that specialise on American imports but few have access to the salvage auction network in the USA that is mostly closed to those who have the relevant licence to sell and trade autos in the USA. There is a company called SalvageSpareFinder that can give UK and worldwide customer access to that network in exchange for commission should they buy a vehicle, this is something popular not just with the public but also with breakers who want ot buy in in salvage cars for car parts.

There are other consideration when dealing with American imports. First of all you have transport to the port to consider, then the transport via ship to a port in the UK, then the trailer journey back home and we haven’t even mentioned the VAT payments required at the port.

So buying American imports whether is be salvage or normal cars is not for everyone and care should be taken to ensure you buy the right a car and fully understand all the costs.

How breaker yards deal with cars that come to the end of their life has been a roller coaster ride of the recent decades. When I was younger, I would drive my old banger to the breaker yard in the hope they gave me £50 for my old car, which will then be stripped and the good parts sold off. However when new European directives were introduced, most breakers found it expensive to dispose of cars, so the days of paying for a car went and in fact some breakers used to charge to dispose of the car and pick it up.

This situation has once again reversed as many cars parts are now in short supply, this has been complimented with a recent scrappage scheme, where consumers were paid to take vehicles off the road reducing the used car part market. So now scrap cars as a whole can attract a value depending on the age and condition of the car as the market goes through other challenges.

Many breakers who deal with scrap cars would buy parts in from countries and resell them in the UK, but with the pound sterling reducing in value, these parts are now often too expensive to buy in, yet other countries would now consider buying parts form the UK, to sell abroad, again reducing the supply of certain types of parts increasing the value of them.

This may be not good value for the car part buyer, but should be for those trying to offload their scrap car, as in most cases it should be worth something.
